FAQs

Who are the programs for?

Our professional development programs are designed for formal and informal educators, librarians, families, and community leaders who are passionate about enhancing learning experiences for children. We cater to educators and thought leaders in early childhood and

elementary educational settings, including classrooms, after-school programs, and community organizations.

Our student enrichment programs are designed for children in early childhood (ages 3-5) and elementary (grades K-5). These programs are hands-on and connect science, STEAM, and the natural world with multicultural picture books and literacy.

Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor is also available to keynote your next event. She speaks about sparking connection and joy in your work, as well as ways to apply playful leadership in your life. These talks are appropriate for education, corporate, and business settings.

What are the age ranges?

Our professional development and keynote talks are appropriate for all ages.

Our student programs typically target children from preschool (ages 3-5) through elementary school (grades K-5). However, we can tailor activities to suit specific age groups upon request.

Will you travel?

Yes! Dr. Diane’s Adventures in Learning is happy to travel to your location to conduct workshops, training sessions, and learning events. We can do virtual and in-person workshops and talks anywhere in the world! Please contact us for travel arrangements and details.

What areas do you serve?

We are open to traveling anywhere in the world based on demand and scheduling.

I'm not a science teacher -- is there a program for me?

Absolutely! Our programs incorporate interdisciplinary learning and are suitable for formal and informal educators in all disciplines. We focus on integrating storytelling, hands-on activities, STEAM experiences, multicultural picturebooks, and play to enhance learning

across the curriculum.

Why use storytelling in education?

Storytelling captivates students’ attention and helps them relate to concepts on a personal level. It encourages creativity, critical thinking, and empathy, making learning more engaging and memorable.

What is hands-on learning?

Hands-on learning involves engaging students in active, authentic experiences that allow them to explore, experiment, and discover concepts firsthand. This approach fosters deeper understanding and retention of knowledge.

What's the big deal with play and education?

Play is essential for cognitive, social, and emotional development. It encourages exploration, problem-solving, and collaboration. Incorporating play into education promotes a love of learning and enhances student engagement.

How can this help with classroom management and executive function?

Our keynotes, professional development workshops, and student programs emphasize interactive STEAM experiences that promote self-regulation and organization, crucial components of executive function. By engaging students through hands-on learning and play, educators can foster a more focused and cooperative classroom environment. Dr. Diane offers a Chaos to Calm workshop designed to help educators dive deeply into this area.

Diverse books -- what does that mean?

Diverse books represent a variety of cultures, experiences, and perspectives. They provide children with opportunities to see themselves and others in literature, fostering inclusivity and understanding in the classroom. All of Dr. Diane’s programs draw on the work of Dr. Rudine Simms Bishop, integrating multicultural picture books as a way to provide windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors for transformational learning for all of our students.

Can I use Title I funds?

Yes! We encourage you to check with your school’s administration to see how you can utilize these funds for our keynote talks, professional development workshops, and student programs. We can work with you to create a package that suits your goals.

Is there a discount for nonprofits?

Yes! We offer special pricing for nonprofit organizations and children’s museums. Please reach out to us for more details on available discounts.
